Social Media Marketing For Law Firms
Law firms have been historically off social media for the most part. Back in 2006 when I started talking to audiences about social media, the lawyers in the room honestly had no interest. Fast forward to 2025. They are realizing it is time to really review their digital strategy and get smarter about it. That is why they are coming to Socially Delivered.
First, I tell firms that they must have a company-branded social media presence. Gen X and Millenials when looking for an attorney are going to search on social first. They want someone who can relate to them.
"The firm first must have a business page on Linkedin. Then, they must post daily Monday-Friday. It's the consistency that is key," says Jennifer Abernethy, Founder of Socially Delivered.
Next, the firms' Partners must all have comprehensive profiles. "We help our clients get their profiles looking up to date with the right keywords to attract their type of client." says Jennifer.
A social media policy should also be distributed to everyone at your firm from Receptionists to top partners. We recommend a meeting to be held with everyone to inform them of the social media channels that will be running content
and they should know the channels to share with clients and prospects. A good strategy would be to have the social media channels i.e. Instagram handles on business cards and mention them at dinner events and luncheons etc.
A roadmap of where you are trying to go with social is good. A great question to ask your social media team (and we hope it's us) is let's review our social every 45 days. Let's see what's working and what's not and then course correct.
